Colour in Time

Main Gallery May 12th - June 5th 2011

Yvonne Singleton

"These recent works are an exploration of the historical surface acting as a recording device, by measuring and preserving the passage of time.
Travel is an integral part of my process, allowing me to locate and extract the essence of specific areas of interest. Each work contributes to the ongoing research.
Saturated areas of colour are used to reflect the natural stains and residues that occur during the cycles of weathering on ancient exterior surfaces.
Colour and texture resonate as history made visible on each surface, a physical encapsulation of the aging process."
