Shirley A Thomas: New Zealand Landscapes in Oils

Community Gallery January 12th - 24th 2012

"I have been painting in oils for 33 years and was taught by the German artist Heinz Boehnke. In particular, I was taught the importance of an interesting sky in the landscape. Since then I have developed my own individual style which not only portrays the realism of our unique New Zealand scenery, but also the mystical atmosphere of the early morning mist, or the beauty of an evening sunset. I love the magical effect of the ever-changing patterns of light and shadow on our mountains, rivers and sea.

I paint from the heart and the ultimate satisfaction for me is when my painting connects with a personís soul."

Thia Image Gallery shows a selection of the work on display.
