Te Aroha Art Group

Wallace Community Gallery July 12th to July 24th 2012

Te Aroha Arts Centre Inc.

Te Aroha Arts Centre has a membership of approximately 50 Arts and Crafts people mainly from Te Aroha, Morrinsville, Matamata and surrounding districts. The Arts Centre is used every Tuesday by a friendly group of members who come and do their own thing with like-minded people.
Our members work in Watercolour, Oils, Acrylic, Pastels and Pencil. A number of Workshops are offered each year to raise the standard of work and encourage members to aspire to better themselves. Late July we are offering an Oil Painting workshop with Tony Roche teaching his wet on wet method of New Zealand Landscapes. In mid September we have an Oil Painting Workshop with Nemesh who does vibrant abstracts and who has a totally different technique predominantly using palette knives and shaping tools. Contact Jenny Davis on (07) 884 7735 for further info.
In the past year members have had tuition with our own Jean Grant in her home plus workshops at the Art Centre with Val Tubman & Peter Nicholson (watercolour and acrylic), Maxine Thompson (pencil drawing), Tony Roche (oil – landscape) and Nemesh (Oil – abstract).
Twice a year we hold Exhibitions, Queens Birthday Weekend and early December at The “Old Courthouse” Arts Centre, Rewi Street, plus Kid’s Art Exhibition the 1st weekend in October.
The rest of the time we are lucky enough to be able to exhibit our work at the Domain Gallery situated behind the I-Site in the Te Aroha Domain. Staffed by volunteers it is currently open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11am – 4pm throughout the year.
