Steps in Time
This Exhibition represents the last twenty years of my painting life, since we moved from the South Waikato to the North Waikato. I joined Art Clubs in Putaruru where we lived, and later Huntly, when we moved. I was able to do some Community Education Classes and attended Art Workshops at Raglan nearly every summer for about ten years.

I am a founder member of Artnexus group of painters and sculptors, a mainly Waikato group of artists formed in 2000 and have exhibited in our annual group exhibitions. Our work is displayed on our web-site

I have always loved oil painting and began with this media. I took every opportunity to attend art classes, especially figure drawing. My earliest paintings here are figures from this time. The local sketching days and Summer Schools at Raglan gave me experience in landscape. I used mainly watercolours for the sketches, and was encouraged to use large paper, charcoal, ink and other media combined.

During the last ten years I have been using Acrylics, at first in the manner of oil painting, and lately in a more free manner Allowing myself to 'play' with it, and experimenting with abstraction. The Apprehension, Aspirations, and Take Flight paintings, of 2012 are a result of this.I surprised myself how much I enjoyed doing it.
