On the Edge of the Mist…Images from a Rural Landscape
There is something very special and beautiful about the way a thin veil or think blanket of mist transforms a landscape. Physically, depth of field can be dramatically altered and shape and form take over. Trees are thrown into sharp relief and colours set against a soft amorphous background take on extra vibrancy. Emotionally, there can be a heightened sense of isolation. In an instance, all this can change as the last pockets of mist dissipate.
My images were collected, some fortuitously and some as a result of chasing fog pockets across the Waikato like a crazy storm chaser in Tornado Alley. I have included images from the Far North in the hills above Te Paki, and as far south as the isolated landscape of the south King Country.
Photography has been a passion for me for over 35 years and I have been inspired by some wonderfully talented photographers and artists. It is with great pleasure that I am able to exhibit a collection of my work at the Wallace Gallery and I was humbled that my submission was accepted. Thank you for taking the time to peruse my work.
