I grew up in the Tahuna area and attended Morrinsville College.
In my early teens I had lessons in painting from my Aunt, Violet Watson, a well known Waikato artist. My “Roses for Violet” work was inspired by what she called her dratted flower paintings.
I later lived in Vienna for 28 years and continued my art education by completing a 2 year diploma focusing on drawing, painting and perspective. Whilst living in Austria I was able to Visit most of the major art museums and galleries in Europe.
I returned to New Zealand in 1996 to settle on the Hibiscus Coast, and to renew my connection with the Waikato. I became a member of Artnexus (a Wikato group of 17 artists) and recently I became a member of Estuary Arts (an Orewa based group of artists).
Over the last decade my focus has switched to quilt making which I approach from the standpoint of an artist. This new medium provides me with an opportunity to create a unique finished article, partly due to my extensive collection of fabric.
