Drawn by light……
Marian Kroeze has been painting since 1983, when she first picked up paints and brushes to create what attracted her in nature; mainly flowers. Creativity runs in her family; her dad painted and her sisters are very creative as well, one in textile arts, another in abstract painting and the youngest is a florist.
Marian’s watercolours quickly attracted attention as they were displayed in her home on a lifestyle block near Morrinsville.
One of her first works made it to the Mairangi Arts Centre when it was selected out of 400 hundred entries for the NZ Gardener Awards.
In 2001the Matamata-PiakoArtspost accepted six of her paintings for a solo exhibition in the Public Library in Morrinsville, followed by works exhibited in the Gallery at Eastwest College for Intercultural Studies at Gordonton in 2005.
Some of her works have made it overseas and another painting was transformed in to a promotional ‘thank you’ card by the Bible Society of New Zealand.
Strongly influenced by Nancy Tichborne’s paintings, Marian attended a workshop by the artist some years ago, loving every minute of Nancy’s encouragement and input.
