‘Sophia on Sunday’

Sunday was a special day in the nineteenth century; church attendance was high, with some families going to church at least twice a day. Dress was formal and the best that families could acquire. Sophia stands in front of her home, a wooden villa of the period. These houses were divided into sections and shipped from England to New Zealand, to be reassembled on arrival at the new destination.
