The two children are taken into the woods by their father and left there, they leave a trail of bread crumbs but the crows eat them. They come upon a gingerbread house where they are imprisoned by the witch who eats little children. Hansel is placed in a cage to fatten him up. Eventually they kick the witch into the fire and a white bird helps them find their way home to their father.
